Are you a water drinker? Not juice, milk, coffee, or soda, but water? You should be. Did you know that 75% of American’s are chronically dehydrated? Even mild dehydration can slow down your metabolism as much as 3%. That may not seem like much but in today’s society with so many people constantly trying to lose weight, it definitely makes a difference. Did you know dehydration is the number 1 cause of daytime fatigue? As little as a 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory and problems with simple math.
Water affects every part of your body. For example, when you don’t get enough of it, your kidneys don’t work properly, and you can even experience symptoms of heartburn, angina, lower back pain, headaches, migraine headaches, fibromyalgia pain, asthma, hot flashes, even morning sickness during pregnancy. It can also bring about many “feelings” in the body like, feeling tired, flushed, irritable, anxious, depressed, and not sleeping well. In fact, dehydration can cause, not only pain, but disease, decay, and even premature death. This really got me, next to oxygen, water is the most essential material for the efficient working of the brain. This list just scratches the surface. It would take an entire book to cover all the things that can affect you when your body is dehydrated. As you can see, we are not dealing with a minor issue here.
It’s also vital to remember that nothing lives without water. Unfortunately one of the biggest mistakes most of us make is thinking soft drinks, coffee, juice or any other beverage is in the same category that water is. They don’t even come close. They may be wet, but that is where the similarity stops. Every other beverage, even milk (which is a food), has its own characteristics and chemicals in it. The differences change the way your body utilizes each of these different beverages in your system.
Water can help you lose weight (my favorite part!), fight constipation, and maintain muscle tone. It helps reduce the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and the clogging of your arteries in your heart and brain. It’s a better pick-me-up than any other beverage in the world and it has no side effects. And that’s just the beginning!
So don’t wait another minute go get yourself a nice big glass of water, right now, and make sure that one is not the only one you drink for the day! Now you can see why so many people carry water bottles with them wherever they go. It makes it easier to get more of that life enhancing nectar we all need.
Until Later, Have a Beautiful Day …
Heart Hugs,
