Multi Task Your Way to Better Health - Local Motion
It’s that time of year again when everything is putting on a fresh new face. The flowers are blooming; the grass is growing, and the trees are filling out. And unfortunately we often do the same thing. Isn’t it always the way? We hibernate under our big “winter” clothes and then boom, spring is here and we lose our cover … literally!
Time to get serious and start getting in better shape. The good part is when you start working towards getting in shape you also automatically start feeling better.
Start with moving … sounds simple enough but if you stop to think about it, and really look at your day, chances are you don’t do much of it, unless you are really into exercise. This is especially true, if you sit or stand most of your workday, which is totally unhealthy for you.
Have a dog? Take a few minutes to walk it a couple of times a day. In many cases a couple turns around a block or two where you live on can equal close to a half-mile. Not only does it help limber you up, but it increases your oxygen intake which is good for clearer thinking, better blood flow and healthier lungs, and it’s an excellent de-stressor. Try doing it for a few minutes in the morning before you go to work and again, either when you get home or after dinner. It only requires a few extra minutes in the morning.
The benefits definitely outweigh the few minutes earlier you have to get up. If you have a little extra time in the evening make your walk a little longer, it helps de-stress you from your day, digest your food, get your muscles moving after being dormant most of the day and it will even help you sleep better. You’ll be surprised at how much better you and your dog will feel.
Don’t have a dog? Go with your kids, or your honey, or take the time for yourself. It will improve your overall well-being and you’ll definitely reap the benefits for your body and your health.
Until Later, Have a Beautiful Day …
Heart Hugs,
